Peter Waldman, UVa William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor in Architecture was the initial Virginia Design Medalist in 2004, a program established by Mike Evans, FAIA to celebrate the intersection of the profession and the academy. Every summer since, Hanbury has invited a distinguished academic spend a few weeks with us, sharing their focus and enriching the firm through a series of keynote presentations, design reviews, and meeting with groups and individuals in the office. With our growth we’re encouraging the Medalists Program be owned by the entire firm, so we’re renaming it the Hanbury Design Medalist Program (HDM).

Please celebrate with us at MacArthur Memorial Visitor Center July 9 with Peter Waldman delivering a keynote presentation reflecting on the HDM program and new collages and images from Lessons From the Lawn, Connective Tissues, and current work tentatively called Six Characters in Search of an Author.
