INVESTIGATIVE TESTING TECHNIQUES (AIA: 1LU/HSW)

This presentation discusses common structural investigation techniques used on existing structures. These techniques and test methods may be used to determine the existing structures to determine construction type of the building or to determine the condition which the structure is in. The presentation discusses appropriate tests for various construction types and common laboratory tests. We will also discuss the difference between destructive and non-destructive tests and limitations testing. Results of the discussed testing techniques are used by Structural Engineers to help design repairs, renovations and upgrades to structures.
